Experiment 3: Bridge + Office Overview

This image exhibits Helen Kueller's portion of her bridge and her office space. With Helen, after some thorough research it was clear that her source of power lied within her determination to surpass struggles throughout life. Countless number of times did she face more and more struggles, however even though these were difficult, these experiences had in fact helped push her to become the great person she once was. To exhibit this type of struggle I made her half of the bridge seem as if it were being pulled away from the land, with these ropes and strings constricting it. Further established by the window where it suggests these 'ropes' were wrapped around the structure. However in this virtual reality, the poles are in fact the structural support of the bridge, thus playing on the idea that even though these 'ropes' show grief and struggle, in truth they become the support of the bridge, much like the support of obtaining that power Helen Keller once had.
In terms of the office space, I tried to give it a sense of realism, but creating different textured walls. By doing so it would have helped her establish her position in the house, as she was blind and deaf. Thus by playing on the sense of touch it enabled her to move around. Furthermore this sense of struggle/structure is exemplified in the office as well.

This Section depicts Miranda Kerr's portion of the bridge and her office space. To me I found Miranda Kerr's source of power to lie within the visual aesthetics. With her being a supermodel, I pictured her to be an icon of sublimity and grandness. This reminded me of the Romantic Era where beauty was conceived as the sublime and strayed away from the neoclassic understanding of beauty and instead, the natural or causes of the natural such as ruins and waterfalls were predominantly seen as beautiful. Greek ruins were a popular decorum for the middle and upper class in the backyards and here I have tried to replicate this. The use of columns and slightly, however intentionally broken down sections of the bridge subtly alludes to this Romantic era.
The office space, shows elements of this as well. However i did not further elaborate on this as it was only an allusion to the type of power, I tried to keep in mind the context and gave her office a more modern look. Whilst using curves at certain points to accentuate the more flowing beauty which she epitomises.
